What Will 2008 Bring Into Your Life?

Do you know the story of John Goddard?  At age 15 John made a list of all the things he wanted to accomplish in his lifetime.  When he had finished his list he had 127 items that became the roadmap for his life.  Some of them were relatively common like becoming an Eagle Scout, learn to type 50 words a minute, and study Jujitsu.

Other goals that John set were a little more unusual—milk a rattlesnake, read the entire encyclopedia, and make a parachute jump.  There were also those goals that you and I might see an utterly impossible—climb Mt. Everest, visit every country in the world, and go to the moon.

Here is the amazing part, by age 47 John Goddard had accomplished 103 items on his original list of 127.

Goddard was motivated to identify his important dreams after he heard many older people say, “If only I had done this” or “If only I had done that when I was younger.”  He realized that too many people miss all the fun, excitement, and thrills of life because they do not plan ahead.

What is your Vision for your life?  Where do you really want to be in the future?  Do you have a true desire to succeed?  Everyone wants to succeed.  That’s a given!  Nobody would purposely set out to fail, but you would be surprised at how many people do just that.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.  Some people always do that: but the really great make you feel that you too can become great.”  Mark Twain

Preparing for 2008 be sure of your purpose.  Become really focused on what you want to create in your life.  Know what your dreams are.  Once you are clear then put it in writing and develop a plan of action.  If you truly want to achieve those dreams you have to have an extremely high level of desire and be passionate about them.  Trust and believe you can have anything you want.  And finally make a commitment to those dreams and take responsibility for the outcome of your actions.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”  Eleanor Roosevelt

Interesting Tool

Structuring your time when you are in charge can be almost impossible for some of us.  Working too hard or procrastinating too long about going to work–both can be a challenge.

For those who work from home or are self employed or are simply workaholics the computer can be your best friend and your worst enemy.  It is so very easy to get wrapped up in your work and forget to take a break.  Often times a break can clear your mind and actually allow you to produce better work as a result.  I so understand how easy it can be to find yourself lost in your work for hours.  Getting wrapped up and not wanting to stop can be a challenge.

I know I can’t be alone with this one.  How about that project you don’t want to tackle?  So instead you find yourself surfing the net.  Talk about wasting hours before you are aware they are gone.  How many times have you wanted to kick yourself for letting so much time get away from you?

This may be a perfect simple solution.  I was recently introduced to a simple little tool that is free and easy.  Instant Boss is a piece of software that you download to your computer.  After you set it up, you will get a small grey reminder box popping up on your screen telling you to take a break.  When your break time is over, you get another box telling you to get back to work.

Download this free software at http://www.appsapps.info/instantboss.php

Hope you enjoy…Now go back to work <smile>.
