What have you wanted to complete, but just can’t get around to?  Do you have big dreams but you have not translated those dreams into goals?  I am certain you have very valid reasons for not pursuing those dreams.

I believe that we use valid reasons that make us feel okay about ourselves for not moving forward with something we really want.  I also believe if we begin peeling, back the layers of those reasons we must acknowledged that they are simply excuses.  And if we continue to peel we identify that those excuses are really fear. 

Excuses are the lies we tell ourselves to avoid dealing with unpleasant truths.  As long as we buy into those excuses, we can never move past them.  Instead of addressing the underlying fear, we merely hide it underneath the excuse.  One of the most important steps in personal growth is to acknowledge we have a fear and confront the real issues behind the excuses with courage.

I want to challenge you to look at your excuses—look deep at what your fear really is and then choose to find a way around the obstacles.  You will not believe how empowered you will feel for moving forward.  Focus on the benefits of pursuing your dreams and how fantastic the results will make you feel.

What is your valid reason?  I don’t have time: where are you really spending your time?  How much television do you watch, what can you accomplish while sitting at a soccer game practice? How could you barter with your family to give you more time?  There is a way if you are committed to your dreams.

What about I don’t have the money? Could you work one day of the weekend at another job?  Have you tracked your spending how much money do you spend on random purchases that you could revert to your dream?  Example: No more Starbucks, eat out one less time per week, pack your lunch, do not venture into Walmart.  Could you really give those things up to achieve what you really want?

If you are not willing to make the changes that may be necessary to more forward I want you to ask yourself what are you afraid of, what happens if you fail, what happens if you succeed?

Take a chance on yourself and refuse to let the excuses stop you from being everything you wish you could be.
